Partners in Circular Change

CARE collaborates with a strong network of European partners and advisors who are driving the transition towards circular living. Explore our community of collaborators below.

Shared Vision

Across Europe, many organisations and experts share the same vision of enabling people and communities to live more circular lives. CARE is part of this growing ecosystem of circular initiatives, working alongside partners to turn ideas into action and connect household experiences with systemic change.

Circular Cities and Regions Initiative (CCRI)

The Circular Cities and Regions Initiative (CCRI) is launched and funded by the European Union as part of the Circular Economy Action Plan. It focuses on implementing the circular economy across Europe’s cities and regions to help achieve the 2050 climate neutrality target of the European Green Deal.

The CCRI fosters synergies among projects and initiatives to increase knowledge exchange and raise the profile of best practices in the circular transition. The CCRI also provides technical and financial guidance to support local and regional authorities in developing and implementing their circular strategies.

CARE’s five pilot regions – Tampere (FI), Asker (NO), Gothenburg (SE), Berlin (DE) and Lääne-Harju (EE) – are part of the CCRI network. The project emerged from these regions’ shared ambition to collaborate on household-level change, reflecting the kind of cooperation at the heart of the CCRI vision. Through this partnership, CARE contributes local insights to a broader European effort, connecting everyday practices with systemic circular transformation.

CircleUp – sister project under Horizon Europe

CircleUp is CARE’s sister project under the EU Horizon programme, working towards the same goal: empowering 100 households to adopt sustainable, circular lifestyles. Building on behavioural science and digital innovation, CircleUp helps households “level up” through reflection, planning, action, and community sharing.

Together, CARE and CircleUp form a strong alliance that connects behavioural insights with hands-on experimentation. By exchanging stories, data, and good practices, both projects amplify their collective impact on Europe’s journey to a circular future.

CARE External Expert Advisory Board (EEAB)

The EEAB brings together leading researchers and practitioners in circular economy, behavioural change, and sustainable consumption. Acting as independent advisors, they ensure scientific excellence, relevance, and real-world applicability of CARE’s work.

Their guidance supports CARE in connecting household-level insights with broader circular strategies across Europe. They help the consortium translate research into real-world impact, from behavioural change to policy innovation, thanks to their diverse expertise.

Members of the External Advisory Board are:

  • Sandra Ahlm (Gothenburg city, Sweden, CCRI contact person)
  • Albrecht Fritze (Berlin city, Germany, Desk Officer for Circular Economy of Municipal Waste, part of CCRI)
  • Kersty Hobson (Cardiff University, UK, leading researcher of circular consumption)
  • Liisa Hyttinen (Council of Tampere Region, Finland, contact person for CCRI in Tampere Region)
  • Jan Wynarski (CCRI Coordination and support office)

Towards a circular future

Together with our partners and advisors, CARE builds bridges between households, science, and circular policy — shaping a Europe where circular living is the new normal. By sharing knowledge, insights and practical solutions, we connect everyday life with systemic change, empowering communities to turn sustainable ideas into lasting impact.
