Since 2003, The Universität für Bodenkultur Wien (BOKU) has been a leading research institution in food waste prevention and treatment, working on various national and international projects throughout the food supply chain, often supported by ecological, economic, or social assessments. The Institute of Waste Management and Circularity is recognized nationally and internationally among waste management experts. It evaluates waste management objectives of political and legal relevance for their environmental and economic impact.
As the leader of Work Package 1, BOKU drives the evaluation of CARE’s environmental and well-being impacts. By leveraging its expertise in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) analysis, BOKU focuses on measuring the effectiveness of interventions, particularly in reducing waste. BOKU ensures a holistic approach to assessing material efficiency in household practices.
